Kris, this gave me all of the feels.
I felt so connected with you in your childhood trauma of having to be independent as a survival mechanism.
I felt so connected with you in your statement about not being able to delegate at work.
I felt so connected with you in your realization that we need to let ourselves be dependent.
THIS is why we need our generation here on RUclips.
    To find our tribe.
To connect and know we are not anomalies.
    And to support each other.

You really made my day. You know, when you allow yourself to be vulnerable and then you feel seen, and supported, and validated...I appreciate you and that you took the time to leave me these meaningful words. 💜

I, also learned early on that I could only depend on myself, learning more and more to open and trust that others can show up for me❤ It has truly been a defense mechanism. So insightful, thank you 🙏🏽😊

It's a tough habit to break, isn't it? Thank you!

I have this belief that our cultural idea of rugged individualism has been incredibly harmful to people and communities. Humans are massively social beings and yet through our own trauma and cultural identities we have rejected it. I’m on the journey to build more connections, but just like you, it came later. Life has a way of showing you how you might need to change.
Btw: loved the shift in location as the story changed. Excellent.

Thanks, Jackie! I think a lot of our individualism came from the very beginning days of our country, in particular. Not that it is unique to the US but it feels like we built our society around that norm rather than in SO many other cultures where it is more family and community focused. Thanks for noticing the location changes! I keep trying new things!

Great thoughts! I’m someone who kinda fluctuates being independent and dependent depending on the situation. I think they are both important in their own ways, and a balance is worth striving for.
    Enjoyed this video, thank you!

Thank you! Finding the context-dependent balance is the trick!

Gosh Kris, I got emotional when you read the lyrics of Paul Simon. I often felt I could relate to those lyrics and when I listened to this song so many times over the years I felt like he understood. However like you I’m getting the concept of help and people needing people. I was the type and still working on this btw to be the first to offer help and also promptly shut people down and out when they offer their help to me. This video really resonated with me. Your flower girl story made me laugh out loud😂 and I got to see the whole jumper (in a different color) It’s so cute! I also love the changes in “scenery” your words of wisdom are captivating however with the changes in scenery make it even more captivating.

It's funny how we hear things differently depending on where we are in life, isn't it. The jumpers are SO comfy and they travel well. I'm glad you like them. I wanted to get more colors but also don't want to have too many of the same thing over and over. Eyes out for something new and different next time.
The changing spots was new for me, and thanks for noticing! I'll get more fluid over time and have a vision of how I want it to be eventually, but focusing on the content and technical stuff mostly for now. SO many ways to bend and flex here on RUclips! Thanks again for stopping by.

Hi Kris. This talk has me thinking deeply. I haven’t fully formulated my thoughts, and will come back to comment when I have. Thank you for giving me this to toss around. It’s definitely a topic of value. ❤

I'm so glad you found it thought provoking. As with most things worth thinking about it is an area full of greys. A spectrum depending on situations and circumstances.

Totally insignificant in light of the depth of this video, but my autistic brain picks up on visual details like an eagle…and I feel compelled to mention them. 🧠😀. That said, I have that same Woozoo fan! My gosh that little thing has been a lifesaver this summer in my bedroom, the hottest room of my home. Okay..I promise I’ll share deeper thoughts shortly! ❤

I don't know what I would do without our Woozoos! We have two and they make not having AC so much easier. I also just like them year-round for gently and quietly moving the air around (I hate stagnant air). Thanks for stopping by Jen and I appreciate your "noticing" skills.
